A mother who wanted her baby to be quiet, stuffed baby wipes into his mouth until he died of suffocation, according to police in South Carolina.

Florence police said that they have arrested 25-year-old Jessica Lynn Mamaux, after being accused of killing her 3-month-old son with the baby wipes.

In court, Mamaux pleaded guilty to one count of homicide by child abuse. Judge Thomas A. Russo sentenced the woman to serve 20 years in prison.

Mamaux remains in the Florence County Detention Center.

According to the criminal complaint, Mamaux lived with her son in a home on Mustang Road. One day, when her son was crying, she stuffed baby wipes into his mouth to shut him up.

A little later in the day, Mamaux found her child unresponsive.

The boy was rushed to the hospital, where he died. An autopsy revealed that the boy died of suffocation from a foreign object in the mouth.
