A man flew into a rage after his sister’s boyfriend did not come home with Hot Pockets, according to police in Georgia.

Atlanta police said that they have arrested Nathaniel Mathis, after being accused of fatally shooting his sister’s boyfriend for not having money on his food stamps card to buy Hot Pockets.

In court, Mathis has been found guilty of murder, criminal damage of property in the first degree, possession of firearm by first offender probationer and possession of firearm during commission of a felony.

A judge sentenced Mathis to serve life in prison plus an additional 10 years.

According to the criminal complaint, 34-year-old Rodney Benton and Mathis’ sister went to the grocery store to buy food.

Mathis’ sister had his food stamps card as she used it in lieu of getting rent from the brother. While at the grocery store, Mathis called his sister and asked her to buy Hot Pockets.

Mathis’ sister and boyfriend came home without Hot Pockets or any other food since the food stamps card did not work. Mathis became angry.

He grabbed a gun and shot Benton 8 times, killing him.
