The Broomfield Police Department said that on Thursday, at approximately 9:30 a.m., dispatchers received an EMS & 911 hangup call from a home at 4221 W. 136th Avenue in Broomfield.

Broomfield officers arrived on the scene before paramedics.

The officers entered the home and found a child that had suffered a massive amount of trauma. This 4-year-old boy was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

Officers took the suspect, 25-year-old Emanuel Joseph Doll, into custody. Doll has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

He is being held at the Broomfield Detention Center, and was denied bail. According to court documents, the victim was Jace Emanuel Higginbotham.

His mother is Doll’s twin sister. Higginbotham’s grandparents, Joseph and Charlotte Doll, were watching the child as his mother went to school.

At some point, Emanuel Doll lured his nephew into the basement of the home. As Higginbotham was playing on an iPad, Emanuel Doll grabbed an ax and killed the young boy.

Several years ago, Emanuel Doll slapped his mother because she was walking around the home half naked. Emanuel Doll pleaded guilty to assault and was sentenced to one year probation.
