A drunk man shot his wife while playing Russian roulette with a gun he thought was empty.

29-year-old Pongrat Kitsunthorn of Thailand, told police that he was playing Russian roulette with his wife and he believed that there were no bullets in the pistol.

Nopparat Phrasena, 27, who was working in a hospital, was found dead in the bedroom of her house in Ayutthaya, when police arrived at around 1:00 a.m. on Thursday.

She suffered one bullet wound to the forehead. A .22 caliber gun was found near her body.

Kitsunthorn told police that he accidentally shot his wife while they were playing a game before going to bed.

Police said that the husband was crying and he looked drunk. The two, who have been together for three years, were drinking with friends earlier that night.

Before they went home, the husband went to his grandmother’s home and took the gun with the intention of playing a fun game with his wife.

He took out the bullets and left them at his grandmother’s home. However, unbeknown to him, there was one bullet left in the chamber.

He started the game by aiming the gun at his wife’s forehead and then pulled the trigger. Completely unexpectedly, she was shot in the head. He tried in vain to save her life and then called the police.

Police took him to his grandmother’s house, where five bullets were found under a bed. Despite claiming it was an innocent accident, prosecutors charged him with attempted murder.

The charges may be upgraded pending further investigation.
