(Scroll down for video) A suicidal man in Alaska, turned himself into police after he accidentally shot his girlfriend.

Assistant District Attorney James Fayette of Anchorage, said that evidence shows the incident was an accident. According to Fayette, 21-year-old Victor Carl Sibson tried to commit suicide.

His girlfriend, 22-year-old Brittany-Mae Haag, desperately tried to stop him. The couple were in their apartment when the incident unfolded.

Sibson, who was drunk, held the gun to his head. While Hagg tried to take it away from him, Sibson fired one shot. The bullet went into the left side of his head.

However, according to Fayette, the bullet went through his skull, exited the right side of his head and stuck Hagg in the chest.

Both were rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Hagg succumbed to her injuries while Sibson eventually recovered.

He now turned himself into police and was charged with second-degree murder. He is being held on $250,000 bond.
