Construction workers fall 40 feet into sewer

Several construction workers had to be rescued by firefighters after falling deep into a sewer pipe, according to police in Texas.

A Dallas Fire-Rescue Department spokesperson said that the two construction workers fell more than 40 feet into a storm drain while doing work.

The incident unfolded on Tuesday around 11:00 a.m., as the two constructions workers were doing work at in the 200 block of West Eighth Street.

Suddenly, the two workers were swept into the drain pipe.

About 30 feet into the sewer, the two construction workers managed to grab hold of something, preventing them from falling deeper into the system.

Luckily, they were able to call for help. Firefighters who arrived at the scene, were able to locate the workers after hearing their calls for help.

A firefighter lowered himself into the sewer with a rope, and helped the two construction workers walk out of the drain pipe.

No injuries were reported.
