(Scroll down for video) Classes were canceled for one week in a school in Texas, after the principal committed suicide in the parking lot.

45-year-old Dennis Reeves, a married father of two sons, was found in his car with a .380-caliber semi automatic pistol in his hand.

He was inside his pickup truck that was still running while it was in the parking lot of the Kirbyville High School in Houston.

Kirbyville Police Chief Paul Brister said that Reeves, who was the high school principal, met with the superintendent and assistant superintendent at the campus at about 4:00 p.m.

During the meeting, he handed in his resignation. Police did not release the reason for the resignation. After the meeting, Reeves left the school and went to his truck.

One hour later, at 5:00 p.m., he was found dead in his truck with one gunshot wound.

Police said that they did not find a note or any indication that Reeves was planning to commit suicide. Detectives said that there was no sign of foul play either. They are awaiting for an autopsy.

Students expressed their shock over the loss. Many students wrote on social media how Reeves helped them in school and how caring he was towards them.
