(Scroll down for video) A young mother killed her baby by falling asleep on him after drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana, according to police in Pennsylvania.

Dauphin County police said that they have arrested 23-year-old Arissa Ward, after tests showed that her 2-month-old son had marijuana in his system at the time of his death.

Ward has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and endangering the welfare of children. Ward’s boyfriend, Arthur Livering, was charged with endangering the welfare of children and drug possession.

Ward was booked into jail, and her bail has been set at $50,000.

According to the police investigation, Ward, Livering and their 2-month-old son lived in an apartment in the 300 block of Lawrence Street.

One night, Ward smoked marijuana and drank alcohol while sitting on a cough, and then fell asleep on her son. When Ward woke up, she realized that her baby was not breathing.

The boy was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy revealed that the baby died as a result of asphyxia.

A blood test showed that the baby had marijuana in his system probably due to breastfeeding.
