(Scroll down for video) A man who worked as a teacher and principal, viciously attacked a young boy who begged for leftover food, according to police in Texas.

The Austin Police Department said that they have arrested 40-year-old Chad Warren Sanders, after being accused of choking the 10-year-old boy and taking away his eyeglasses.

Sanders has been charged with one count of injury to a child.

He was booked into the Travis County Jail, and his bail has been set at $7,500. If convicted, he could receive up to 10 years in prison.

According to the police investigation, Sanders worked as a principal and a teacher at the Cedar Valley Middle School.

On Friday, Sanders hosted a birthday party at the Playland Skating Rink, which is located in the 8800 block of McCann Drive.

The 10-year-old boy, who was playing at the facility, asked a manager whether he could have some of the leftover food from the birthday party.

When the manager gave the boy permission to take food, he went into the room and took some. Sanders noticed the child taking the food and became angry.

He ran after the boy and picked him up by the neck. The boy told police that he felt like he could not breathe for several seconds.

Sanders then asked the boy for his wallet. When the boy said that he did not have a wallet, Sanders took away his eyeglasses and threw it in the trash.

Police saw red marks on the boy’s neck, consistent with being grabbed by the throat.
