(Scroll down for video) A young girl is in critical condition after her brother tied a plastic bag around her head while he was high on drugs.

18-year-old Simere Alford of Pennsylvania, faces charges including attempted murder and aggravated assault, while her sister remains on life support.

Police were called to 5500 block of North American Street in Olney, Philadelphia, at 1:00 p.m., by the teen’s mother.

The mother told police that Alford took the keys to her car and drove off after he had been smoking synthetic marijuana known as K2.

After he left, Alford’s 14-year-old sister informed her mother that her 7-year-old daughter was missing from her bed.

The family began a frantic search for her. When they entered Alford’s room, which was in the basement of the home, the girl was found unconscious with a bag over her head and face, Philadelphia Police Captain Mark Burgmann said.

The girl was rushed to a hospital. Meanwhile, Simere had crashed the car. When he was arrested, Simere told officers that he “did something stupid.”
