(Scroll down for video) A woman came up with a bizarre excuse for pouring soda into bank ATMs, according to police in China.

Chongqing police said that they have arrested the woman after she admitted to pouring cola into two bank ATMs, causing them to malfunction.

The 33-year-old woman is facing charges of criminal damage.

According to the police invitation, two banks gave police surveillance video footage, showing the woman pouring Pepsi into their ATMs.

During questioning, the woman told police that she had been contacted on her phone, and she was told that there was a shortfall in her bank account.

She was told to transfer money to a certain bank account so that she would be able to use her bank card for purchases. She transferred $780 to an unknown bank account.

The woman then became suspicious and called back the person who spoke with her on the phone. The woman demanded that her money be returned.

The fraudster told her to pour Pepsi in the bank’s ATM and the machine will give her back her money. The woman did as she was instructed, but she did not get her money back.

She caused $9,000 in damages to the two bank ATMs.
