A man used a screwdriver to murder his childhood friend before going to sleep next to the body, according to police in Illinois.

Des Plaines police said that they have arrested 35-year-old Craig Grzesiakowski, after being accused of killing Jeffrey Ziolo, 35, following a night of drinking alcoholic beverages.

Grzesiakowski has been charged with two counts of murder and robbery. He was booked into jail, and his bail has been set at $2 million.

According to the police investigation, Ziolo and Grzesiakowski were friends since they were young kids.

On Wednesday night, Ziolo invited Grzesiakowski to his home located at 650 Beau Drive, where a group of friends got together to play music.

Grzesiakowski drank a lot of alcohol and became very intoxicated. After everyone went to sleep, Grzesiakowski and Ziolo started arguing.

Grzesiakowski grabbed a screwdriver and stabbed Ziolo several times. He then used an object to hit his head. Grzesiakowski stole his friend’s cell phone.

Grzesiakowski then grabbed a bottle of bleach in an attempt to clean up the crime scene. However, Grzesiakowski fell asleep next to his friends body.

When the other friends woke up around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, they found Grzesiakowski sleeping next to Ziolo’s body.

The medical examiner determined that Ziolo died of blunt-force trauma.
