A family found a gruesome scene when arriving to check on their parents.

One of the family members discovered that the elderly couple of Spain, had been eaten by their own dogs after dying in their house in Mallorca.

Police believe that the man died first and his wife, who suffered from Alzheimer’s, was unable to care for herself, and died days later.

Both bodies showed signs of having been eaten by their pet dogs.

The couple, both 75-years-old, had five dogs on the property. Two dogs died of starvation while they were tied up and were unable to go out to look for food.

Police believe that the three other dogs survived for two months by eating the remains of their owners.

The grizzly scene was discovered by one of the couple’s children, who had stopped at the house to check on the elderly parents.

The remains were in an advanced state of decomposition, but the initial investigation suggests that both husband and wife died from natural causes.
