Two men will spend years behind bars after being caught illegally possessing the Quran, according to police in Pakistan.

Rabwah police said that they have arrested Idris Ahmed and Sabaul Zafar, after being accused of acting as Muslims despite not being Islamic.

Both suspects were charged with excessive use of Quran and Islamic literature. In court, Ahmed and Zafar were convicted of the charge.

A judge sentenced them to three years in prison and a fine of $500.
