Dallas State Representative voted Freshman of the Year crashes car into tree after driving while drunk

(Scroll down for video) A rising star in the Democratic Party has been arrested, following a drunk driving incident, according to police in Texas.

Dallas police said that they have arrested 36-year-old State Representative Victoria Neave, after crashing her car into a tree.

She was charged with Driving While Intoxicated. She was booked into the Dallas County Jail, and her bail has been set at $500.

According to the police investigation, Neave, who is a Democrat, has been elected to represent House District 107.

Neave has recently been named Freshman of the Year by the Texas House Democratic Caucus.

On Tuesday around 11:30 p.m., police received a call about a BMW that crashed into a tree on Abrams Road and La Vista Drive.

Police officers who arrived at the scene, found that Neave smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes. She was unsteady on her feet and had slurred speech.

She refused to take field sobriety tests, and was arrested.

Luckily, no injuries were reported as a result of the collision.
