(Scroll down for video) A poet flew into a rage after a woman’s leg touched him while riding on a train, according to police in New York.

The New York Police Department said that they have arrested 50-year-old Derrick Wilson, after being accused of stabbing 24-year-old Shaday Tripp.

Wilson has been charged with attempted murder, five counts of assault, two counts of menacing and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

He was booked into jail, and his bail has been set at $200,000.

According to the police investigation, Wilson works as a street poet.

On Thursday at around 6:30 p.m., Wilson was on the Number 2 train in Manhattan, when Tripp and her friend, 21-year-old Zakia Lewis, came on board.

Since there was only one seat available, Tripp decided to sit on her friend’s lap. Suddenly, Wilson began cursing at the two women, saying that Tripp’s leg touched him.

Wilson pulled out a knife and stabbed Tripp in the neck.

Tripp is 5 months pregnant. Wilson then stabbed Lewis twice on the arm. Tripp and Lewis were taken to the Lincoln Medical Center, where they were treated.

Both victims are expected to make a full recovery. Tripp’s unborn child did not suffer any injuries.
