A mother wanted to throw her son an elaborate prom party that he and their entire neighborhood would never forget.
43-year-old Saudia Shuler, who owns the soul-food restaurant Country Cookin’ in Pennsylvania, said that at first, she wanted to take her son on a trip to Dubai, UAE.
However, she then decided to “bring Dubai to Philadelphia,” where she lives with her son.
Shuler threw 18-year-old Johnny Eden Jr., a $25,000 party, which included a live camel, a 30-foot wall mural, three tons of sand to give it a real desert feeling and other props.
Eden had three prom dates. They all wore custom made dresses, which his mother paid for. He changed into three different custom made suits for each dance.
Shuler rented three luxury cars, including a Lamborghini and Rolls Royce for the party.
She also bought two cakes, one that looked like a Quran and another one that resembled an Islamic rug with a person kneeling in prayer.
Shuler explained that her son deserves this elaborate party as he helped her through some very difficult times in her life.
In June 2014, she suffered a stroke and in October 2015, she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She also suffers seizures to this day.
In addition to helping his mother through her illnesses, Eden managed to maintain a GPA of 3.76 at Simon Gratz Mastery Charter, and he is going to attend Delaware State University to study chemical engineering.
Because of his hard work, she wanted to reward him in a great way. Eden’s father died when he was 3-years-old.
Eden converted to Islam in 2013, which according to his mother, helped him through the difficult times in his life.
Shuler said that she does not have $25,000 sitting around, but family and friends pitched in and helped financially. “Probably $8,000 of that was my personal money,” she said.
The proud mother posted many photos and videos of the elaborate event to her Instagram account @countrycookin1.
