A police sergeant lost his job after being caught taking video up a woman’s skirt at a train station, according to police in Japan.

Kanagawa police said that they have arrested 42-year-old Tomoya Kitahara, after being accused of using a small camera to take video of the 23-year-old woman’s private parts while she was riding on an escalator.

Kitahara has been charged with video voyeurism.

According to the police investigation, Kitahara was a sergeant at the Kanagawa prefectural police department. On Sunday, at around 8:00 p.m., Kitahara was at the Ebina Station, when he began following the young woman.

Kitahara had a small video camera in his bag, and positioned it to take video up the skirt of the unsuspecting woman.

Another police officer at the train station noticed the sergeant taking video up the skirt of the woman while they were riding up an escalator.

The police officer detained the sergeant until the arrival of other law enforcement officials. Kitahara allegedly admitted to recording video of the woman’s private parts.

He was suspended from the police department pending the outcome of the case.
