A father was arrested after being accused of severely abusing his newborn daughter.

31-year-old Shawn Michael Foltz of Minnesota, was babysitting his 2-month-old daughter and 3-year-old son one evening.

He became extremely frustrated when the baby would not stop crying. Instead of soothing her, Foltz tortured her and then blamed his son for causing the injuries.

When the mother returned home, she found her baby with bruises over both eyes, red marks on her back and a bruise on her shoulder.

Foltz claimed that their son hit the baby with a toy gun. The mother took the baby to the Essentia Health emergency room in Fargo.

Police were called after doctors believed she was hurt intentionally.

When questioned by police, Foltz admitted that he had been harming the girl for the past month.

In his shocking confession, Foltz told police that he blocked his daughter’s airways until she turned blue and threw fireworks in her face.

He admitted to hitting her with a towel or wooden spoon, pinching her and rubbing hot sauce and cayenne over her eyes, nose and mouth.

Foltz was charged with neglect of a child, malicious punishment of a child, and two counts of third-degree assault. He is being held on $100,000 bond.
