A husband in India, who wanted to die with his wife, bit her on the wrist in an attempt to poison her after he suffered a bite from a venomous snake.

Birsinghpur police questioned the wife after being rushed to the hospital along with her husband.

Luckily, the wife survived the attack, but the husband died as a result of the snake bite. The incident began on Saturday night, when Shankar Rai woke up in his bed with terrible pain.

Rai realized that he was bitten by a venomous snake, and had minutes left to his life. He then ran over to his sleeping wife, Amiri Devi, and woke her up.

Rai told her that he had minutes left to live and he loved her very much. He expressed his wish to die together with her so they could be with each other in the afterlife.

He then bit into her wrist. Moments later, both the husband and wife fell unconscious. Neighbors who heard a commotion, broke into the home and found the unconscious couple.

They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors managed to save Devi, but Rai died. Dr. Jaykant, who treated the couple, said that Devi was saved because she was treated soon after being bitten.

Devi told police that she allowed her husband to bite her wrist because she wanted to die with him.
