The U.S. Coast Guard announced that they have found the dead body of 53-year-old Kirk R. Jones of Spring Hill, Florida, floating in Lake Ontario.

Employees of the ship Maid of the Mist, found a large inflatable ball with a large enough space to hold a person inside.

According to the police investigation, Jones climbed into the ball and went into the water close to the Niagara Falls.

However, the stunt failed. Jones fell out of the ball and went over the falls. He drowned, and his body was found 12 miles away from the foot of the falls while the ball was recovered next to the falls.

Many years ago, Jones became the first person to go over the falls without protection and survive. He was arrested by police in Canada, and was charged with unlawfully performing a stunt and mischief.

He was ordered to pay a fine of $3,000 and was banned from the falls for a year. Canada later banned Jones from the country for life.
