Belleville police said that they have arrested 23-year-old Decalos Edwards Johnson-Foston, after being accused of killing his pet cat in front of many commuters.

Johnson-Foston of St. Louis, Missouri, has been charged with one count of aggravated cruelty to animals. He was booked into the St. Clair County Jail, and his bail has been set at $75,000.

According to the police investigation, on Friday, Johnson-Foston tried to board a train at a Belleville MetroLink station. He had his pet cat on his shoulder when a security guard told him that animals were not allowed on board.

In response, Johnson-Foston threw the animal to the ground and stomped on its head, killing it. Commuters at the scene froze in shock as Johnson-Foston fled from the scene.

He then boarded a bus before police could arrest him. Police caught up with him at the College Station, where he was arrested.

Police learned that during the bus ride, Johnson-Foston stole a passenger’s wallet.
