(Scroll down for video) A mother in Georgia, reported her son missing after he failed to come home one night.

Sadly, after many hours of investigating the case, police found the boy’s body in a wooded area.

The Alpharetta Police Department have now charged two people in the death of 16-year-old Elijah Smith.

Police said that Smith and his mother stayed at the Extended Stay Hotel in Alpharetta, and he left the hotel when he called 20-year-old Hali Karlan and her boyfriend, Deri Bonaventura-Flores, 19.

Police learned that Smith asked the couple if the two could take him to get cigarettes and they agreed. The suspects came to the hotel, picked up the 16-year-old boy and drove away.

However, they never made it to the store. According to court records, Karlan told police that her boyfriend became jealous and he felt threatened by Smith.

Karlan also said that Bonventura-Flores was so upset with Smith, that he ordered him get out of the car at a red light.

The two got into an argument and somehow, Smith was shot and killed. The couple then drove to Twiggs County, and dumped the body in a wooded area off of Glover Road near Interstate 16.

Karlan was charged with murder and giving false statements to police. She is being held in the Fulton County Jail without bond. Bonaventura-Flores was arrested on unrelated charges.

Smith worked at a Waffle House for one month before he was killed.
