A security guard at a government building raped a pregnant woman who came to pick up her official documents, according to police in Zimbabwe.

Harare police said that they have arrested 38-year-old Tonga Hungwe, after being accused of raping the 19-year-old pregnant woman, who was not identified.

In court, Magistrate Lucy Mungwari sentenced Hungwe to 16 years in prison.

According to the police investigation, the 19-year-old pregnant woman came to the government offices in the Makombe Building, where Hungwe worked as a security guard.

The victim was trying to register her pregnancy with the government. Hungwe offered to help the woman and requested her to leave her ID card and birth certificate with him for a few hours.

When the victim came back to pick up her documents, Hungwe ordered her to follow him into a room. Hungwe locked the door, and ordered her to the ground.

Hungwe then raped the pregnant woman.
