(Scroll down for video) A little boy is lucky to be alive after falling out from the window of his apartment, according to police in Massachusetts.

Chelsea police said that the incident unfolded on Wednesday, at the boy’s home located on Marlborough Street.

According to the police investigation, at around 5:00 p.m., 2-year-old Luis Eduardo Gomez was jumping on a bed near the window.

Suddenly, Gomez bounced out the second floor window. He fell about 20 feet to the ground on a concrete slab. The boy’s great uncle 55-year-old Luis Estrada, said that he ran outside and found that Gomez was alert and conscious.

He was crying and had a few cuts on his face. Chelsea Deputy Fire Chief John Quatieri said that Gomez was jumping on the bed while holding a stuffed animal.

When he fell out the window, Gomez held on to his favorite stuffed animal, and that softened the impact.

Gomez was taken to the Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was held overnight for observation, and was released on Thursday in good health.

Chelsea Police Chief Brian Kyes wrote: “2-year-old boy is recovering from a fall from a 2nd floor window on Marlboro St. He was conscious and alert on scene, and has apparent minor injuries.”

The following day, Kyes wrote: “2-year-old child from yesterday, is doing fine. He was held overnight at MGH for observation. Thankfully, the stuffed cow broke his fall.”
