Elementary school principal who is a father of three children kills his disabled son before committing suicide

(Scroll down for video) People in Michigan, were left with a lot of questions over the death of a beloved principal and his son.

52-year-old George Heckman was the principal at the Pewamo Elementary School, and a father of three children.

He was supposed to become the new superintendent of the Pewamo-Westphalia district.

However, when he failed to appear at a school board meeting on Monday night and his family did not know where he was, police were called

Sadly, officers found George and his 28-year-old son Grant Heckman, dead inside a van on a dirt road in Carson City, Michigan.

Authorities said that the preliminary autopsy results show that the father and son died of gunshot wounds. Evidence indicates that George died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police are now treating the deaths as a murder-suicide.

Family, friends and the entire community was stunned by the news as they said that George was a popular and well-liked principal.

However, George had been struggling to care for his severely disabled son, who had cerebral palsy and was totally depended on his family for care.

George left behind his wife Jeanne, and their two other children Claudia and Sam.
