(Scroll down for video) A baby will never get a chance to spend time with his father outside of prison doors.

A 23-year-old prison guard told a judge that she was young and made a mistake when she allowed a prisoner to have a cell phone, which he used to communicate with her.

Deenesha Lemandy Carter, 23, of Macon, Georgia, was arrested after it was discovered that she had a relationship with a murderer.

Sometime during their affair, Carter allowed the prisoner, Walter Lee Harris, 37, to come out of his jail cell to have sex with her, and she became pregnant by him.

Harris is serving a life sentence for murder after he was found guilty in the shooting death of Quentin Walker.

Carter was initially charged with sexual assault of an inmate at a correctional facility and on two counts of violation of oath by a public officer.

However, as part of the plea agreement, prosecutors dropped the more serious sexual assault charge and she admitted to one count of violating her oath as a public officer.

Carter was sentenced to five years on probation. She also must pay a $500 fine and surrender her Peace Officer Standards and Training certification.
