A rugby player of the United Kingdom, ruined his career after he was busted for communicating with a young girl and inviting her to a hotel for sex.

24-year-old Joe Snowdon of Gateshead, thought he was talking online with a girl named Amanda, but in fact, he was sending messages to members of group called Dark Justice.

The Dark Justice organization catches people who want to have sex with underage girls.

The Newcastle Crown Court heard that Snowdon, first began chatting with the girl on the adult social networking site Skout, before moving to private conversations with her on WhatsApp.

Although the girl’s profile stated that she was 18, as soon as the two began chatting, the “girl” informed Snowdon that she was just 13 years old.

In a matter of hours, the conversation turned sexual and Snowdon invited the girl to meet him at the West Parade Hotel in Newcastle, and she agreed.

Members of Dark Justice notified police of the meeting and they waited for Snowdon to arrive.

Snowdon was arrested. He initially told police that the online conversations were all fantasy, but later he admitted to trying to incite a child to engage in sexual activity.

Prosecutors said that before leaving to the hotel, Snowdon sent a message to the girl, saying he was nervous and that “he was taking a big risk by meeting her,” the prosecutor said.

Defense attorney Jamie Adams, said that Snowdon is a good person and he has learned his lesson. “There is no way he is going to be bringing this kind of experience into his life, or someone else’s life again,” Adams told the court.

She added that he was suspended from the rugby club, where he had been for many years and he lost two prospective jobs after his arrest.

Judge Sarah Mallett accepted Snowdon was “appalled and disgusted by his own behavior.”

Snowdon was ordered to register as a sex offender for seven years. He was also given a three-year community order.
