(Scroll down for video) A doctor is being held responsible for the death of five of her patients after they died by overdosing on drugs that he prescribed to them.

A woman tipped off police after she became addicted to drugs when Dr. Regan Nichols of Oklahoma, prescribed her as many drugs as she wanted.

Nichols was charged with five counts of second-degree murder.

Police said that Nichols worked at the Sunshine Medical clinic in Midwest City, when she prescribed 1,800 opioid pills to the five patients during the month leading up to their deaths.

Police said that the osteopathic physician prescribed the drugs despite the fact that the patients did not need them for medical reasons.

The Oklahoma Medical Examiner's reports stated that all 5 deaths were the result of them combining different drugs that were prescribed to them.

According to police, three of the five people died of a lethal combination of painkillers, anti-anxiety drugs and muscle relaxants. All of the prescriptions were signed by Nichols.

The patients were all women, who ranged in age from 21 to 55, according to court records.

The investigation also uncovered that Nichols prescribed more than three million doses of narcotics in just four years.
