A man destroyed his own vehicle and put his life and the life of his passenger in danger by driving into a lake, according to police in Massachusetts.

West Yarmouth police that they were called to the scene of a single vehicle accident and found a Jeep completely submerged in the Swan Pond.

27-year-old Daniel Alley told police that he and his passenger were traveling to a summer home in their Jeep Patriot, at around 1:00 a.m., on Friday.

At around 1:30 a.m., Alley turned on his Garmin GPS because he was not familiar with the area. When Alley was driving down Lake Road, the GPS ordered him to continue straight.

That is when Alley drove straight into the lake. When the Jeep began sinking, Alley and his passenger escaped from the vehicle.

Luckily, they did not suffer any injuries, but the Jeep was a total loss by being completely submerged in water. Alley got a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license.
