(Scroll down for video) An elderly woman drove the wrong way down a road and led police on a chase because she wanted to buy a cup of coffee, according to police in Texas.

Denton police said that they have arrested 81-year-old Nancy Strader, after failing to obey police orders to stop her vehicle and surrender.

Strader has been charged with one count of evading arrest. She was booked into the Denton City Jail, and her bail has been set at $1,000.

According to the police investigation, early on Thursday morning, several motorists called 911 to report a white Jeep driving erratically.

Police officers who arrived at the scene, noticed the Jeep driving down the wrong side of the road. Police ordered the driver to stop, but Strader ignored the request and kept driving.

Eventually, police deflated her tires and shattered the windows of the vehicle. Strader got out of her car and sat down on the ground, telling police that she had bad knees.

She told police that she felt there was no reason for her to stop because it was her life, her car and she hates to talk to stupid people.

She was driving to the store to get a cup of coffee. Police noted that Strader was not under the influence of alcohol at the time.
