(Scroll down for video) A handyman in Florida, was devastated after police mistook his drywall for cocaine during a traffic stop.
Oviedo police said that they have arrested 57-year-old Karlos Cashe, after being accused of being in possession of cocaine while driving his work vehicle.
He was charged with cocaine possession and a parole violation.
He was booked into the Seminole County Jail, and he was denied bail.
According to Cashe, he works as a handyman. One evening, Cashe was pulled over for driving without lights. Cashe apologized to officers, saying that he did not realize the lights were off.
Police then asked him whether he had any illegal substances in his vehicle, to which Cashe replied “no.” Officers then noticed white powder in the vehicle.
Cashe told them that the powder was drywall as he works as a handyman. Police brought a dog to the scene, and it alerted them to illegal drugs.
Police then tested the white powder, and it came back as cocaine. Cashe was taken to jail and denied bail. After 90 days, lab results showed that the white powder was negative for drugs.
Cashe was released from jail and the charges were dropped.
Cashe is demanding to be compensated for the 90 days he has lost.
