A pregnant woman is facing only a misdemeanor charge for using her car as a weapon to run over a man who stole her purse.

The dramatic video of the incident shows the moment the pregnant woman ran over the man she saw stealing her purse from her car in a Walmart parking lot.

26-year-old Christine Braswell walked to her car and witnessed the man, identified as Robert Raines, looking through the belongings in the car in Asheville, North Carolina.

Braswell began chasing the man on foot, but she quickly realized that since she was five months pregnant, she would be unable to keep up with the shirtless man.

She got into her car and ran him over.

The thief was taken to hospital after suffering minor injuries.

In the video, the purse was seen on the ground and Braswell’s possessions were scattered. Braswell claimed that the man broke the screens on her iPad and phone.

Raines is charged with felony breaking and entering, larceny and misdemeanor damage to property while Braswell was charged with misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon for running him over.

Defense attorney Steve Lindsay said that Braswell cannot claim self-defense because the suspect had already walked away and he did not pose a risk to her or anymore else.

However, she was not charged with attempted murder because it was not premeditated as it was done in the heat of the moment of being robbed.
