(Scroll down for video) A couple is warning people to check prices before using an Uber, as they were ripped off by a price surge.

Keith and Audra Tubin were at the Summerfest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Wednesday, with their family when they took an Uber.

The couple asked the driver if he could make several stops, and the driver said that would not be a problem. However, the driver never informed them about the price surge or how much it would cost.

The couple had used Uber many times in the past, expected for the fare to be about $200 as they traveled about 30 miles, which took about one hour due to traffic.

However, when they reached their destination, the driver informed them that the bill would be $898. Audra said that she told the driver “you are kidding right?” And he said “no.”

The next morning, Keith said that he woke up to a fraud alert from his credit card company over the $898 charge.

Keith called Uber headquarters and he tried to negotiate a reasonable price over the fare, but they refused to budge.

Uber explained that the surge price was 8.6 times the normal cost and upfront prices do not apply when stops are added.

Keith said that he could have hired a limousine for the night, and that would have probably been cheaper than the Uber.

The Tubin family no longer plans to use Uber.
