A teenager was charged as an adult after using young teenagers to have sex with men for her own financial gain.

Now, the California teenager was sentenced to 13 years in prison.

Jelinajane Bedrijo Almario of Hanford, was 16 years old when she was arrested for human trafficking, sending threatening emails and making terroristic threats.

Police said that Almario ran a prostitution ring with the girls she met through friends and acquaintances or on social networks.

Det. Richard Pontecorvo said that the 16-year-old girl was locating children with low self-esteem and befriending them before pimping them out to men for sex.

Sadly, Almario targeted at least four girls who were between the ages of 14 and 15.

She arranged for them to meet random men by posting their photos on different prostitution websites. She then took them to different motels, where they had sex.

During this time, the mother of one of the victims noticed that her daughter was missing, and she was worried. Police said that Almario sent the mother threatening texts when she asked where she was.

The prostitution ring only lasted for a few weeks before Almario’s crimes were uncovered and she was arrested.

Although she was a minor when she ran the prostitution ring, prosecutors decided to try Almario an adult because of the gravity of her crimes.

She was sentenced to 13 years in prison on Monday, two days after turning 18.
