A rapist posted an ad on a dating website in attempt to lure women to his home, according to police in the United Kingdom.
Now, the man who impersonated a police officer, and raped and blackmailed a woman, has been jailed for eight years.
43-year-old Randeep Tamne of Wycliffe Road West, in Wyken, Coventry, pretended to be someone else on the Plenty of Fish dating website, and arranged to meet the 27-year-old woman at his home.
When the woman arrived, she believed that she was at the wrong house as Tamne did not look like the man she had been speaking to online.
She apologized and left, but was then called by Tamne, who said that he was a police officer.
He told her that she had committed crimes, and threatened to arrest her if she didn’t return to his home. She returned, and was told that she would need to pay a fine.
She took money from her bank to pay him, but was then told this wasn’t enough. Tamne then suggested sex as payment.
The woman said that she didn’t want to have sex, but was directed upstairs and raped. He then made her drive to an ATM, and withdraw more money.
It was agreed that further payments would be made to prevent her arrest. She went home, and the next day returned to Tame’s address with more money.
The following day, she disclosed the attack to her mother, and they reported the incident to police.
During a police interview, Tamne denied impersonating a police officer, rape and taking money from the victim.
Last month, he pleaded guilty to two charges of rape, one of blackmail and one of impersonating a police officer. He was sentenced to eight years and one month in prison.
Tamne will also have to register as a sex offender for life.
