A man is lucky to be alive after he jumped out of an 8th story building in an attempt to get away from his parole officer.

A New York man miraculously survived a jump from the Harlem apartment building after he panicked when his parole officer arrived to check on him.

27-year-old Floyd McGarrell was on parole for drug and assault charges, when his parole officer arrived at his new home address.

It was about 3:00 p.m., on Friday, when the parole officer arrived at the Lincoln Houses apartment building on Park Avenue in Harlem.

McGarrell freaked out and attempted to get away by jumping out of the window. He landed on a patch of grass and he suffered only an injury to his ankle.

McGarrell, was unable to get away as officers were waiting for him outside of the building and they immediately arrested him.

He was then taken to a hospital for treatment.

This is not the first time someone jumped out of this building. More than ten years ago, 21-year-old Tyrell Harris got into a shootout with police before he jumped out of a 14-story window in the same building.

He was transferred to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he died.
