(Scroll down for video) Police officers who arrested a mother for leaving her son in a hot car, were surprised when the woman ordered them to turn on the air conditioner because it was too hot while riding in the back of a police cruiser, according to police in Florida.

Daytona Beach police said that they have arrested 30-year-old Colleen Walker, after being accused of leaving her 5-year-old son in the back of her vehicle while she shopped at a store.

Walker had been charged with child neglect. She was booked into the Volusia County Jail, and her bail has been set at $5,000.

If convicted, Walker faces up to five years in prison.

According to the police investigation, Walker went shopping at the Dollar General store located at 2016 S. Ridgewood Avenue.

She went into the store with her 3-year-old daughter, but left her 5-year-old son in the car. A woman who noticed the boy screaming in the hot car, called police.

Police found the boy screaming and holding on to the steering wheel. It was 107 degrees inside the car. Police believe that the boy was left in the hot car for 28 minutes.

Paramedics checked the boy at the scene, and he appeared to be in good health. Walker was arrested at the scene, and placed in the back of a police cruiser.

While she was being taken to jail, Walker demanded that officers turn up the air condition of the police cruiser because she was too hot.
