A woman suffered injuries after being kicked off a flight of stairs at a train station in an unprovoked attack, according to police in Germany.

Berlin police said that they have arrested 28-year-old Svetoslav S., after being accused of assaulting the 26-year-old woman.

Svetoslav was convicted of one count of causing grievous bodily harm.

A judge sentenced him to serve two years and eleven months in prison.

According to the police investigation, Svetoslav, who is married and a father of three children, was at the Hermannstrasse station, where he saw the victim walking down a flight of stairs.

Svetoslav was holding a bottle of beer in one hand and a lit cigarette in the other.

He approached the woman from behind and kicked her in the back, causing her to fall down the flight of stairs.

Svetoslav then calmly walked away from the scene.

The woman suffered a broken arm as a result of the attack.

During questioning, he told police that he drank alcohol, smoked marijuana and took cocaine and meth hours before the attack.
