(Scroll down for video) An elderly man who became angry with city workers who refused to help him, decided to dump hundreds of bed bugs at city hall, according to police in Maine.

Augusta police said that they have arrested 74-year-old Charles Manning, after being accused of assaulting a city employee with bed bugs.

Manning has been charged with assault and obstructing government administration. If convicted Manning faces up to one year in jail and up to a $2,000 fine.

According to the police investigation, Manning lived in an apartment that was infested with bed bugs.

He went to live at another apartment while the exterminators were trying to get rid of the bed bug problem.

Manning arrived at city hall and asked for government assistance with his bed bug problem.

Manning was told that he did not qualify for government help because he had other sources of income. Manning became angry and left the facility.

He later returned with a container full of bed bugs. He slammed the container down on the counter, causing hundreds of bed bugs to infest the facility.

Some of the bed bugs hit a case worker. The government building was shut down until an exterminator removed all the bed bugs from the facility.
