A family called police in Nevada, to do a welfare check after they were unable to reach their loved ones.

When police went to the Las Vegas home on the 10000 block of Numaga Road, near South Rainbow Boulevard and West Cactus Avenue, they found a scene of domestic violence.

Officers said that they discovered that the family dog was killed.

They soon found the bodies of 40-year-old Dr. John Lunetta, who was the medical director at the American Red Cross.

They also discovered the dead bodies of his girlfriend, Karen Jackson, 35, their son, John Jr., who would have turned one year old this week.

Police said that it appeared to be a murder suicide by Lunetta, who used his legally owned gun to fatally shoot his family before killing himself.

Jackson posted a photo to Facebook, showing that just last week, she had passed a test to become a nurse practitioner and she was really happy about it.

Jackson leaves behind a 10-year-old daughter from a previous relationship, who was not home at the time of the incident.

Lunetta posted many photos of himself with his baby. He appeared to be a loving father before he killed his son.
