Man commits suicide by jumping into volcano crater

(Scroll down for video) A man who was distraught about losing his job, flew to Hawaii, where he jumped into a volcano crater, according to police.

Hawaii County police said that park rangers pulled the body of 38-year-old Leo Adonis, who is also known as Gregory Michael Ure, from the crater of a volcano at the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

According to the police investigation, Adonis lived in, Petaluma, California, and worked at Whole Foods. After losing his job, Adonis became very depressed.

Adonis flew to Hawaii, and went to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. He left his backpack and a suicide note at the volcano crater before jumping into it.

Adonis fell 250 feet to his death. Two hikers found the backpack along the Crater Rim Trail and called police. Police found the body in the crater while searching the area in a helicopter at around 5:30 a.m., on Sunday.
