A loss-prevention officer who worked at CVS pharmacy in Texas, shot and killed a shoplifter.

Dallas police arrested the security officer after police said he had chased a man who had stolen items from the store.

According to police, on Sunday, 31-year-old Christopher Geddes was spotted in video surveillance stealing items from CVS pharmacy on South Buckner Boulevard.

Geddes managed to walk out without paying and he got into a Toyota Camry that was waiting for him in the parking lot.

Minutes later, loss prevention officer 36-year-old Julio Ruvalcaba was seen running out of the store and getting behind the wheel of a Chevy Camaro that was parked outside.

According to investigators, Ruvalcaba chased the car that Geddes was riding in.

During the attempt to avoid getting caught, the getaway car crashed on a freeway.

Ruvalcaba got out of his vehicle and shot Geddes in the upper torso before driving off.

When the police arrived at the scene of the shooting, they found Geddes lying on the sidewalk. He was taken to the hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Ruvalcaba was arrested and charged with murder. His bail was set at $200,000.
