A young man used hair spray to incapacitate his victims before making off with their property, according to police in Japan.

Tokyo police said that they have arrested 22-year-old Maaru Saito, after being accused of robbing multiple people on the street in broad daylight.

Saito is facing charges of robbery and assault.

According to the police investigation, on Thursday, at around 3:30 p.m., Saito approached a 23-year-old man on the street and attacked him with hair spray.

Saito momentarily blinded the victim and punched him in the face.

Saito then grabbed the victim’s backpack, but he managed to fight back, prompting the suspect to flee from the scene.

The victim suffered injuries to the head, and as a result, could not work for two weeks. Saito was later arrested.

During questioning by police, he admitted to attempting to rob the victim.

Police believe that Saito was behind several similar robberies, during which hair spray was used to blind the victims.
