(Scroll down for video) A community is demanding answers after a good Samaritan was shot dead by police in Minnesota.

40-year-old Justine Damond was fatally shot by Minneapolis police at about 11:30 p.m., on Saturday, after two officers responded to her 911 call.

Damond reported a possible assault in an alleyway outside her home. She waited outside for police to arrive so that she can direct them to the victim.

However, for some reason, one of the officers who arrived at the scene, shot and killed her.

Both police officers wore their body cameras, but they were not turned on. The camera in their squad car was on, but it was not in the direction of the shooting so it did not record the incident.

Her stepson, Zac Damond, said that police refused to answer his questions as to what happened and why they killed the woman he referred to as his mother.

Justine came from Sydney, Australia, to live with her American husband a few years ago. She worked as a meditation teacher and life coach. Her students also expressed their shock over the death.
