(Scroll down for video) A woman is being called a hero for jumping into action when she saw a man throwing a child into oncoming traffic.

Tracy Willner of Colorado, was stopped at a red light while driving home with her husband and young daughter at around 9:00 p.m., when she saw a suspicious looking man standing at the side of the road.

As soon as the light turned green, Willner saw that the man threw something into the busy road. At first, she thought it was a dog.

One car swerved in order to avoid hitting the "object," which Willner soon discovered was a young child. She and her husband jumped out of their car.

Tracy ran to get the boy out of harm's way while her husband and other witnesses ran to catch the man. They held the man down until police arrived.

The baby was soaking wet and crying, but he was otherwise unharmed.

Police identified the suspect as the boy's 30-year-old cousin Bryant Hickcox. He was charged with attempted murder and other related charges, and is being held in the El Paso County jail on a $50,000 bond.

The boy's parents had no idea why Hickcox wanted to hurt their son.

Police have since released the shocking surveillance video, showing Hickcok holding the baby before throwing him into the road in front of moving cars.
