Woman who was texting while walking falls from steps to her death

(Scroll down for video) A woman fell to her death while she was distracted by her phone as she was walking down a flight of stairs in China.

The woman, who was said to be in her 20s, was walking down the steps of a pedestrian overpass in Anhui, while was looking at her cell phone.

Unfortunately, she seemed to have missed a step. Surveillance video of the incident shows the woman first stumbling and then falling down the steps before crashing onto the pavement below.


The woman immediately lost consciousness as she suffered serious injuries to her face and head. She was taken to the hospital, where doctors treated her.

However, the woman succumbed to her injuries the next day.

There has been talks in countries around the world about banning texting while walking.

People in Hawaii, may soon face a fine for texting while walking in a crosswalk.

The Honolulu City Council has passed a law banning texting while crossing the street.

If Mayor Kirk Caldwell signs the bill into law, pedestrians will face a fine of up to $99 for crossing the street while looking at their phone.

Repeat offenders could face a $500 fine.
