(Scroll down for video) A teenage girl shot her mother in the head and then set her home on fire to conceal evidence of the murder, according to police in Illinois.

Bureau County Sheriff’s Department said that they have arrested 15-year-old Anna Schroeder, shot her mother once in the head, and asked her friend for help with destroying evidence.

Schroeder has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, concealing a homicide and arson.

Schroeder’s friend, 15-year-old Rachel Helm, is facing charges of concealing a homicide and arson for helping conceal the crime.

Both teens were booked into the Mary Davis Detention Home, where they are being held without bail.

According to the police investigation, the incident unfolded on Thursday afternoon, in the family home.

When 53-year-old Peggy Sue Schroeder of Morrison, came home from work, Anna told her to put a towel over her head.

Anna then shot her mother in the head. Anna then called her friend Rachel to help clean the blood. When that did not work, the two girls fled from the scene.

Both girls later returned to the home and sent it on fire to destroy the evidence. When neighbors saw smoke coming from the home they called for help.

Firefighters found the body on the bedroom floor covered in a sheet that was on fire. Helm felt guilty with what she had done, and told her mother everything.

Meanwhile, Anna wrote on Facebook: “I don’t even know if you can see me right now, but if you can, I just want you to know you were my best friend.

“There were so many things I wanted to say and do with you. I wasn’t always the best daughter and I’m so sorry. I love you so much mom, I just want you to know and I’ll never forget you.”

Peggy left behind two daughters, the murder suspect and Kaylene Schroeder.
