Meridian police said that they have arrested 25-year-old Joshua A. Salovich, after being accused of killing his 3-year-old daughter Bailey Salovich.

Joshua has been charged with capital murder. He was booked into jail, and is being held without bail. If convicted, the boxer faces the death penalty.

According to the police investigation, Joshua was training to become a professional boxer.

On Friday, Joshua asked Bailey math questions, and when she gave an incorrect answer, the father punched her in the face.

Joshua admitted to punching his daughter as a form of discipline.

When Bailey fell unconscious, she was taken to a hospital, where doctors called police to alert them about the child abuse.

The girl later died of her injuries. Doctors told police that the girl suffered from brain bleeding, a possibly detached retina and her lungs were filled with blood.
