A man will finally face justice after being on the run for 4 years.

30-year-old Jansen Simon of Tennessee, who was a wanted fugitive in Louisiana for 4 years, has finally been captured after he flagged down a police officer on a road to hitch a ride.

Simon was arrested on Sunday, after the car he flagged down on Highway 182 in Raceland, turned out to be a marked patrol vehicle.

Simon told the officer that he was traveling with friends when they left him on the road at 1:30 a.m.

The 30-year-old man was wanted and had a warrant out for his arrest for leaving a man with a skull fracture in a bar fight four years ago in Louisiana.

Simon had been arguing with someone when he hit the victim with a hammer. He fled the scene before the police arrived.

Simon also had two outstanding warrants for contempt of court at the time of the assault.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s deputy who was on his way home, stopped to give Simon a ride as it is protocol for officers to help stranded people.

After he verified his passenger’s identity, the officer took Simon into custody.

Simon was booked on charges of aggravated second-degree battery and two counts of contempt of court. He is being held without bond.
